Meet Ashton Meem: Pictures Of Russell Wilson's Wife Before Seahawks QB's Appearance In Super Bowl XLVIII [PHOTOS]

When Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson slipped to the third round of the 2012 NFL draft, his wife, Ashton Meem, was sitting at his side. Two years later, she’ll be watching her husband play the Denver Broncos on Super Bowl Sunday.

Meem got her first taste of the national spotlight at that draft when her enthusiastic reaction to the news that the Seahawks had drafted Wilson went viral. In a November interview with King 5 in Seattle, she described what was going through her mind at that moment.

“The thing of it was, we had a camera crew in [Wilson’s house] all day with us, and I guess I was a little bit newer to that style of filming,” Meem said. “So I thought they were gonna be like, ‘okay, ready, and you’re on.’ They just kept flashing back and forth to us, and I was like, I’m gonna just enjoy this and be myself. And then the moment came, and I guess that’s the reaction I had."

Meem had every right to be excited, since she and Wilson started dating in high school, and have been together ever since. She originally attended the University of Georgia, then transferred to North Carolina State, where the future Seahawks quarterback was playing at the time.

When Wilson transferred to the University of Wisconsin, Meem moved with him. The pair was married shortly before the 2012 draft, and they currently reside in Seattle. In an interview with Seattle-area radio station KIRO, Wilson’s wife described how she’s coped with all the moving.

“Honestly, we just try to keep our home life as normal as possible,” she said, via MyNorthwest.com. “We just try and keep it real, realize what my husband does is a job, it can change at any minute, and what really matters is we don't change no matter what changes around our environment."

It appears that he and his wife will be staying in Seattle for quite some time, given the fact that Wilson led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl XLVIII berth in just his second year in the NFL. To that end, Meem has been extremely active with the local community—she makes weekly trips to the Seattle Children’s Hospital, King 5 reports. She also hopes to start her own event- planning business.
