A 12-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy became Britain’s youngest parents on record after the mother gave birth to her boyfriend’s baby, The Sun reported via Parent Dish. The young parents cannot be named for legal reasons.

The Sun revealed she gave birth on Sunday after she conceived while she was in sixth grade. She was 11 at the time.

The Stir noted the parents, from Northern London, had been together for a year and are apparently “totally in love.” They plan on raising the child together and eventually getting married.

"They're very into each other, totally in love,” a source said to The Sun, as quoted by Parent Dish. “She is obsessed with him. She sees this as true love. They want to get married."

The reportedly met when she was 10 and he was 12 over Christmas. Apparently no one at the girl’s school knew she was pregnant as she hid the pregnancy well. The Sun’s source said classmates of the girl were shocked to discover the news.

The insider reasoned since the young couple had been together for more than a year their relationship could be strong enough to raise a child together. "The baby's mum and dad have been in a relationship for more than year, so this isn't a fleeting romance. They intend to stick together and bring their daughter up together.”

The grandparents apparently are understanding about their babies having babies. The source told The Sun: "Both sets of grandparents are incredibly supportive. It's a very difficult situation because the parents are both so young - but their families are right behind them.”

Before the newest report, Tressa Middleton was Britan’s youngest mother when she gave birth at 12 years and eight months old in 2006. The new moth is 12 and three months old.

The youngest living mother on record is Lina Medina who was five years, seven months and seventeen days old at the time of delivery on May 14, 1939, according to Ridiculous Facts. Her reproductive organs began to develop when she was 2 and half. It was determined the pregnancy occurred because of sexual abuse, but no one was ever charged with the crime. Medina, now 80, lives in Peru with her husband Raúl Jurado.
