Mega Evolutions Coming To ‘Pokemon Sun And Moon’? Here’s Alleged Proof
“Pokémon Sun and Moon” are shrouded in mystery despite the trailers and leaks that confirm and feature many things about the game, such as the Alola region, new Pokémon, Alola forms, new starter and starter evolutions and many more. With the recent introduction of the powerful Ultra Beast, it may seem very timely for fans to speculate that more powerful Pokémon are joining the action in the Alola region.
Since the announcement that “Pokémon Sun and Moon” are scheduled for release this November, theories and speculations on what would be part of the new RPGs have become rampant online. Although most of these theories focus on which Pokémon are getting Alola forms and Z-Moves, there are some that attempt to establish the connection between the Alola region and the other previous installments in the Pokémon gaming franchise.
One of the speculations that surfaced recently refers to the possibility of Mega Evolutions coming to the world of “Pokémon Sun” and “Pokémon Moon.” Reddit user Dragon_Fang shared this week that a trustworthy source from Smogon Forums with the username Cresselia has confirmed the involvement of Megas in the upcoming games through bits of a Japanese magazine.
In Dragon_Fang’s subreddit, it was mentioned that the Japanese magazine stated that “Pokémon Sun and Moon’s” Jungmo-o has Soundproof Ability that can block Sylveon and Mega Gardevoir’s Hyper Voice. Per the official “Pokémon Sun and Moon” Pokédex, Jungmo-o really has Bulletproof/Soundproof Ability, but nothing is mentioned there if this valiant Pokémon has enough power to block the stronger Pokémon’s Hyper Voice.
Moreover, Dragon_Fang was more invested in looking for proof that Mega Gardevoir is really coming to “Pokémon Sun and Moon” than establishing the strength of Jangmo-o's Soundproof Ability This has led the Redditor to do some research and find out that Gardevoir’s Japanese name is indeed mentioned in the Japanese magazine leaked information about Jungmo-o.
In the proof provided by Dragon_Fang (found here), it is clear that Mega Gardevoir’s Japanese name "Mega Sanaito" is mentioned in the magazine. Mega Gardevoir is the mega evolution of Generation III Pokémon Gardevoir, which is one of the final evolved forms of Ralts, as per Bulbapedia.
Mega Evolutions were introduced in the world of “Pokémon X and Y,” Kalos region, where Mega Stones are present. When Trainers obtain Mega Stones, they can use these to activate the evolved form that surpasses the usual limit of Evolutions a Pokémon can achieve. Described as the Evolution beyond Evolution, Mega-Evolved Pokémon can have altered Abilities and types.
With the proof that Mega Gardevoir is one of the Pokémon that Jangmo-o’s Soundproof Ability can go against, does this mean that Mega Evolutions are coming to the Alola region? Reddit user lugiamaster3 claims that while it is possible for Mega Evolutions to come to the Alola region, they are unlikely to be part of the major plot point since it would be more reasonable for the two games to put the spotlight on the Z-Moves.
Do you think it would be a good move for Game Freak to include Mega Evolutions in “Pokémon Sun and Moon”? Sound off in the comments below.
