Although there was no jackpot win following the latest lottery drawing, one player managed to become an instant millionaire. A player from Washington hit the Match 5 and won $1 million. If the ticketholder would have hit the Match 5 with the 4X Megaplier, they would have won $4 million.
The next Mega Millions drawing will be worth an estimated $75 million, with a cash option of $50.1 million. The numbers will be drawn on Tuesday.
Even though there were no grand prize winners, several other smaller prizes resulted from the night. Four players hit the Match 4 plus the gold Mega Ball and won $10,000 each.
Only two players hit the Match 4 plus the gold Mega Ball with a 4X Megaplier purchase, winning $40,000. The other Mega Millions wins from the night ranged between $2 and $2,000.
Despite the lack of grand prize winners, some players continue to take home million-dollar wins. Last month, a woman from Missouri spontaneously decided to buy a quick pick and ended up matching five numbers, winning $1 million.
Jackpot winners have the option to receive their winnings through a one-time lump sum payment or an annuity. Those who chose the annuity receive one immediate payment that is followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.
Mega Millions can be played in 45 states as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands and the District of Columbia.
