Meghan Markle was called “unmaternal” by author Emily Giffin after the duchess released a video of her son Archie online.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son, Archie, turned 1 year old on Wednesday (May 6). The couple released a new video of their child to mark his first birthday.
Many were delighted to see Archie again since he was last photographed in December 2019. However, Giffin was among the few who clearly didn’t like the update.
In her Instagram Story, the “Something Borrowed” author shared a snap of her conversation with another online user named Hardie. Apparently, both criticized Prince Harry’s wife.
Hardie said that Archie was adorable but accused Markle of seeking attention and even called the duchess “a joke.” She added that Archie wasn’t fully cooperating to his mom’s standards.
Giffin agreed and responded to the messages saying, “Completely.” The writer then dissed Markle.
“She seemed so unmaternal,” Giffin wrote.
“It was uncomfotable. She’s such a phony.”
Twitter users were not happy with the way Giffin spoke about the Duchess of Sussex. Also, they noticed Giffin has been using her Instagram account as a platform to criticize Markle. Several netizens defended Markle and slammed Giffin on social media.
“I am floored by these women. I used to read Emily Giffin, Alison Pearsons books back in the day. They seemed so pro women but I guess it was only pro white women occupying a white space,” @marhobby2007 wrote.
“She’s set her account to private now. Coward of the highest order! They dish out hate to Meghan but can’t take a fraction of what she endures!” @Te_Sho commented.
Another user called Giffin an “evil woman who follows Meghan hate pages and laughs with Meghan bullies.” The same online user also shared a clip of Giffin talking about Archie’s name without using the royal title.
Also, many were shocked that Giffin shared the conversation on her Instagram Story. Initially, the netizens thought that it was leaked by another person, so they were surprised that it was Giffin herself who shared it online.
“I was going to say 'ooh who shared the mortifying screenshot of her texts' but then I realized it was...her??” Jean Hannah Edelstein wrote.
“I didnt realize she posted it all directly on her page. She clearly wants all the negative engagement she can get. She’s about to realize the meghan haters dont buy books or donate to charity. Hate is their only currency,” another netizen added.
