Meghan Markle can weather the ongoing public relations storm she’s facing, according to a royal expert.

Catriona Pollard, an Australian PR expert, told News.co.au that Kensington Palace needs to do something about the situation. The first step is to look at the palace’s internal communications and staff access to information. It is also necessary for Kensington Palace to figure out why someone would be leaking information about the Duchess of Sussex.

“Is there a situation within the royal family or staff that’s causing discontent? The public needs to be able to see them together and to quell those rumors,” she said.

The expert added that the rumors need to be actively managed to make sure that they won’t eventually turn into something that could damage the brand further.

“The first thing to do is to prove to people they are just simply is to do things publicly together – even just a casual Sunday spent together will imply a rift hasn’t happened,” she said.

And when it comes to Prince Harry’s wife, Pollard said that Markle can bounce back from the PR storm by showing her warmer side. The “Suits” alum can also show her commitment to the charitable causes close to her heart.

“In 2018, the people and organizations that really bounce back from negative situations are the ones who are diligent about how they want people to respond to them and think about them. Meghan has done that pretty effectively and while we are seeing negative reports in the media, I think she’s likely to bounce back fairly quickly,” she concluded.

In recent weeks, Markle has been dubbed the “Difficult Duchess” due to her outrageous demands. Ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry on May 19, Markle reportedly asked the palace staff to put air fresheners at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle to get rid of the musty smell. However, the Queen didn’t grant the request.

At least two of Markle’s palace aides have also resigned, and another one is set to exit her post after the Duchess of Sussex’s baby is born next year.
