Are Meghan Markle's similarities to Princess Diana factors in her success in capturing Prince Harry's heart?

The "Suits" star is often compared to Princess Diana due to her fashion sense. She was photographed a number of times wearing ensembles that seem to be a tribute to Princess Diana's style, noted Daily Mail.

One look that seemed to be reminiscent of the late Princess Diana's fashion was the ensemble Markle wore when she and Prince Harry made their first public appearance as a couple at the 2017 Invictus Games. For the event, the actress wore a white button-down shirt, ripped jeans and flats. She accessorized her getup with dark shades. It turns out that Princess Diana wore a similar ensemble when she visited Bosnia in 1997 just weeks before her tragic death, according Daily Mail.

Princess Diana and Markle also both adopted the customs of other cultures when they wore a bindi with white shirts. Prince Harry's mom and dad went on a tour in India in 1992 where she was photographed with the red mark on her forehead. The "Dater's Handbook" star sported the same look when she went on a trip to Delhi and Mumbai in January for World Vision.

Aside from their fashion sense, Princess Diana and Markle share a passion for charity work. The late Princess of Wales was active in campaigning for the elimination of the stigma of HIV. Meanwhile, the actress is into working with children. According to Sonia Ardakani, a mom of Markle's school friend, Prince Harry's girlfriend started by helping out at her local soup kitchen and collecting toys to donate as a child after learning of Princess Diana's charity work. Markle is currently the ambassador for World Vision Canada and UNICEF. She's also an advocate for the UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.

In addition, both were photographed wearing caps to hide their faces from paparazzi, sported similar ensembles in different events, wrote handwritten notes and even did a similar yoga pose. Markle has a lot of similarities to Prince Harry's mom and it did not escape the notice of some royal experts.

"[Markle] She's clearly very self-assured, fearless even. In that respect, she is really a breath of fresh air. She's not a blank canvas on to which royals can project an image, but already has a clear idea of who she is and what she wants to achieve. You haven't seen anyone like this since Diana," a royal author Katie Nicholl said.
