Meghan Markle does not compare to Wallis Simpson’s style and sophistication, according to a former secretary.

Simpson’s former secretary, Johanna Schutz, rejected the comparison between the Duchess of Sussex and Duchess of Windsor. For her, the former “Suits” and the American socialite were both divorcees before they married a British royal. Due to their similar backgrounds, they are often compared but Schutz who knows Simpson very well doesn't approve the comparison.

“Meghan doesn't come close to the Duchess in terms of style or sophistication,” she told The Telegraph. “It's all a pity. If only the Royal family had known her. The Duchess was a wonderful woman.”

Schutz became the daughter King Edward and Wallis never had. When the king who abdicated the throne to marry the love of his life died, she accompanied Wallis and even ate every meal with her.

“I couldn’t replace the Duke but I could support the duchess, which was a pleasure,” she recalled. “The Duchess had the best chef in Paris, the best food and wine. She was the most perfect and interesting hostess. I had a wonderful time.”

Schutz also praised how steadfast Wallis and King Edward’s union was. She recalled how he would walk her to the front door and tell her how much he would miss her. When she returned, he would be there telling her he was happy she was back.

“His love for her really impressed me until his last breath,” Schutz said about the late royal couple.

Prince Harry and Markle are considered the second King Edward and Simpson. The issue resurfaced after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced that they were stepping back from their royal roles.

“It's funny how they mentioned in the first statement that they will keep doing some duties, keep titles while enjoying their life without following the rules but the queen decision was totally different she kicked them out now they're officially the second Wallis and Edward,” @anneHelena14 wrote on Twitter.
