Meghan Markle Effect: Who Is Responsible For ‘Suits’ Star’s Popularity In Fashion?

Meghan Markle has been attached to the term, “Meghan Markle Effect,” and it means that whatever the former actress touches, wears, uses or possibly even eats immediately becomes sold out.

According to People, Markle’s best friend, Jessica Mulroney, is the one behind the actress’ “effect” when it comes to the fashion industry. In November, Markle wrote a white warp coat, nude shoes and a dress that was designed by Mulroney herself. The attire became sold out within hours.

Later that week, Markle wore another dress at her and Prince Harry’s royal engagement. The clothing once again sold out within minutes. Since then, majority of the clothes that Markle wore were sold out.

But who exactly is Mulroney and will she become Markle’s maid of honor at her May 19 wedding?

Mulroney and her husband, Ben Mulroney, are dubbed as Canada’s “most polished power couple.” He works as a host, while she is a “consultant providing public relations and social media strategies.” She is also an expert when it comes to wedding planning and acts as a contributing editor for Wedding Vacations.

Just like Markle, Mulroney is also active with charity work. She even founded The Shoebox Project for Shelters in 2011 with the help of her sisters-in-law. To date, the organization has already distributed 91,000 boxes filled with toiletries to those who are in need.

Meanwhile, Markle isn’t the only woman she has dressed. Mulroney is also responsible for the styling Sophie Gregoire-Trudeau, the wife of Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

During one of their official engagements, the Canadian first lady was spotted wearing a white wrap coat that’s similar to what Markle also wore two months ago.

In other news, Markle will have the opportunity to choose her maid of honor, and it’s possible that she would pick Mulroney. The two have a very close relationship with each other, and the designer has also met Prince Harry in the past.

The trio even watched the Invictus Games in Toronto in September together with Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland, and friend, Markus Anderson.
