Meghan Markle previously had a close call on “Suits” prompting her to do one thing.

During an interview on KTLA 5, Markle’s on-screen dad, Wendell Pierce, said that security personnel called the Duchess of Sussex’s attention after she was spotted with an engagement ring on her hand.

On “Suits,” Markle’s character, Rachel Zane, got engaged to Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams). While on the set of the hit series, Markle always wore her fake diamond sparkler.

“Then one time, we were doing a scene before they got engaged where she was engaged with Mike on the show and they said, ‘Wait, don’t get out of the car.’ They said, ‘Give us the ring because there’s a paparazzi down the street,” Pierce said.

The actor said that the security personnel was worried that the paparazzi would assume that Markle and Prince Harry already got engaged when they see the fake diamond ring. During the beginning of the couple’s relationship, they tried their best to keep it private.

However, the paparazzi eventually figured out that Prince Harry and Markle were dating. And this was when the Duke of Sussex asked that Markle be followed by his security team.

Meanwhile, shortly after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s relationship were made public, Prince Harry released a statement via Kensington Palace asking the media to respect his then-girlfriend.

He revealed that the “Suits” alum has been harassed and criticized for her race. He also appealed to everyone to give Markle the privacy that she deserves.

Shortly after the statement was released, Prince Harry and Markle announced their engagement to the entire world. In November 2017, the royal couple sat down for their first interview with BBC.

Six months later, Prince Harry and Markle tied the knot at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on May 19. Their wedding was not as huge as Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptials, but it was also attended by hundreds of guests.
