Meghan Markle, Harry Hire New Staff To ‘Catch Up’ To Kate, William’s Popularity
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly hired new staff to catch up to Kate Middleton and Prince William’s popularity.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are often compared to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge especially when it comes to social media. Both couples are very popular on Instagram. In fact, when Prince Harry and Markle joined the social media site, they immediately gained millions of followers just hours after announcing their official account.
However, Prince William and Middleton remain on the lead with over 700,000 more followers. According to an insider, the new royal parents have hired a social media expert to boost their popularity and close the over half a million follower gap between them and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Express reported.
“They have appointed a new member of staff to work on their social media accounts,” the source said. “The new person will start in time for Meghan's return from maternity leave.”
According to the publication, the addition of the new staff aims to boost the couple’s global image and encourage more followers. However, Prince Harry and Markle have always played down the rivalry rumors.
Earlier this year, Prince Harry and Markle decided to have a separate household from Prince William and Middleton. A number of netizens announced that they would unfollow Kensington Palace and only follow the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s account. Thus, Prince William and Middleton lost some of their followers.
However, after a few months following the fab four’s split, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge earned more followers on Instagram. When Prince Harry and Markle left Prince William and Middleton, the latter only had 7.1 million followers. Currently, they have a staggering 8.5 million followers.
Last month, Prince William and Middleton were accused of stealing Prince Harry and Markle’s thunder due to a post on Instagram. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared never-before-seen photos to mark their first wedding anniversary.
However, after a couple of hours, Prince William and Middleton shared adorable family photos. The snaps were taken at the garden that Middleton, herself, designed for the annual Chelsea Flower Show. According to an insider, “it was a case of anything you can do, we can do better.”
