Meghan Markle Hasn't Worn Queen Elizabeth II's Jewelry Unlike Kate Middleton
Meghan Markle hasn't worn any of the pieces in Queen's jewelry collection unlike Kate Middleton.
The Duchess of Sussex has access to Queen Elizabeth II's vault after her royal wedding to Prince Harry. However, according to Emily Hodgkin, a journalist from Express, Markle hasn't used the monarch's jewelry collection except for the tiara she wore on her big day.
While Markle wasn't seen in any of Her Majesty's accessory, she was photographed wearing Princess Diana's collection. Markle was used the late Princess of Wales' butterfly earrings and bracelet when she was in Sydney after announcing that she and Prince Harry are expecting their first baby together.
Unlike Markle, Middleton has been enjoying the different collection from the Queen's vault. Last year, the Duchess of Cambridge n attended the Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families (AFNCCF) gala with the Queen's diamond Quatrefoil bracelet.
The luxurious bracelet was believed to be owned by the Queen Mother and was handed down to the Queen after her mom's death in 2002.
In 2015, Queen Elizabeth II loaned Middleton two bracelets for the state banquet. One of the bracelets was a wedding gift from Prince Philip.
Also, last August, Middleton was seen wearing Queen Elizabeth II's pearl drop earrings when she joined the monarch to a church service in Balmoral. The Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings were made from a shell containing seven pearls. It has a large round diamond with a smaller circle diamond hanging below it. The Queen received it as a wedding present from the ruler of Bahrain.
"I think it certainly shows the high esteem that the duchess is held in," Elizabeth Galton, jeweler Mappin and Webb's creative director, said about the Queen's habit of lending Middleton her personal jewelry.
According to jewelry experts Lauren Teff and Charlotte Balbier the reason for this could be due to the duchesses' different taste in jewelry. Markle has her own jewelry collection and prefers contemporary bling. She also wants small and delicate pieces.
On the other hand, Middleton wants more classic pieces. The Duchess of Cambridge is into "royal traditional styling."
"For Kate's style, she keeps it simple but tends to go a bit more classic with her jewellery, think diamond earrings and pearl necklaces," Teff explained.
