Meghan Markle was dubbed a “hypocrite” for turning down Vogue’s cover offer unlike Kate Middleton and Princess Diana.

The Duchess of Sussex guest edited the September issue of British Vogue. According to Vogue’s editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, Markle declined to appear on the cover because it would be, in some ways, a “boastful” thing to do.

Some took Markle’s excuse negatively. It appeared that she threw some shade to her sister-in-law Middleton who appeared on the Vogue cover just three years ago for the magazine’s centenary issue. Just like the Duchess of Cambridge, Princess Diana also appeared on the magazine cover not just once but four times.

Commentator Carole Malone criticized Markle and called the duchess a hypocrite.

“I think that’s hypocrisy on a grand scale. She has been on covers of big magazines as well, she was on the cover just before she was married,” Malone said.

Malone wasn’t happy with Markle’s work with Vogue. According to her, the former “Suits” actress didn’t promote the royal family but her own brand instead.

“I think her job is to promote Britain and that’s why she gets to live in big free houses and gets free travel and all the rest of it,” Malone said.

“She’s mentioned 15 so-called trailblazers in Vogue – most of them we’ve never heard of – and only five of them are British. She’s promoting brand Meghan, not the Royal Family and that is her job.”

Many were also not happy that the duchess didn’t include Queen Elizabeth II on her list. Some were mad while others were disappointed how the duchess forgot to include the monarch.

According to Daniela Elser of New.com.au, Markle didn’t celebrate the Queen’s “extraordinary contribution to public life.” She deemed Markle’s failure to feature Her Majesty a “faux pas” and added that it was “embarrassing.”

In related news, Queen Elizabeth II beat Kate Middleton and Markle as the biggest royal influencer. During the Queen’s meeting with Prime Minister Boris Johnson, fans noticed the Dyson air conditioner in her room. Shortly after that the expensive device was sold out.

“Everybody should be paying for her social media clout because she sold out that air conditioner. Which is very, very expensive,” royal commentator Angela Mollard said.
