Meghan Markle Joins Prince Harry, Prince William, Kate Middleton For Christmas Lunch
Prince Harry's fiancée, Meghan Markle, joined the British royal family for their annual Christmas lunch this year.
On Wednesday, Queen Elizabeth II hosted her annual pre-Christmas luncheon at Buckingham Palace. Prince Harry and Markle were photographed heading to the event together, E! News reported. His brother, Prince William, was also photographed driving to the luncheon with wife Kate Middleton. Their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, sat at the backseat with their nanny.
The Duke of Cambridge wore a suit, white shirt and dark tie, while the Duchess donned a black coat, let her hair down and wore smoky eye makeup for the occasion. Prince George looked smart in a blue Amaia Kids Redwing jacket with black trim and buttons, Hello! magazine reported.
Aside from Markle and the royal trio, Prince Charles and Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker-Bowles were also in attendance. Princess Eugenie, Princess Beatrice, Princess and Prince Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra attended the celebration as well, E! News noted.
In related news, Prince Harry was promoted ahead of his royal wedding. Markle's fiancé is the new Captain General of the Royal Marines after Prince Philip stepped down.
The honorable role was granted to Prince Philip in 1953. He announced his retirement last May. On Aug. 2, he attended a parade at Buckingham Palace for the Royal Marines 1664 Global Challenge, and this also marked his last solo engagement as captain general.
"The Queen has approved the appointment of Prince Harry as Captain General Royal Marines in succession to The Duke of Edinburgh," Kensington Palace wrote on Twitter.
Aside from the Christmas lunch, Markle and Prince Harry will spend more time with Prince William and Middleton this holiday. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be hosting the "Remember Me" star and her fiancé in their country home in Anmer Hall in Sandringham.
It will be the best time for Prince William and Middleton to teach Markle the ins and outs of royalty as she prepares to wed Prince Harry. It will also give Markle the opportunity to bond with Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
"You can expect to see The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and Ms Markle at Sandringham on Christmas Day," a Kensington Palace spokesperson told Us Weekly.
