Meghan Markle 'Looked Like Desperate Puppy' During Kate Middleton Reunion, Analyst Claims
KEY POINTS
- Meghan Markle and Prince Harry joined Prince William and Kate Middleton during a royal walkabout at Windsor Castle
- Prince William was more cordial to Markle compared to Middleton, according to a body language expert
- Middleton refused to even look at Markle or in her direction, Dr. Lillian Glass claims
Experts have suggested that Kate Middleton and her sister-in-law Meghan Markle have not yet reconciled based on their body language during their recent public reunion.
On Saturday, Markle and her husband Prince Harry joined Middleton and her husband Prince William during a royal walkabout at Windsor Castle, where they greeted mourners who gathered to pay their respects in the wake of Queen Elizabeth II's death.
Weighing in on the Prince and Princess of Wales' behavior around Markle during the outing, body language analyst Dr. Lillian Glass told Page Six that Middleton appeared to have not yet mended fences with her sister-in-law as she refused to even look at the Duchess of Sussex.
"While William was a bit more cordial, he was still serious around [Meghan] and didn't show his usual megawatt smile. Kate even refused to even look at Meghan or in her direction," Glass told the outlet. "She was being genuine. It was not in her heart to smile at Meghan, so she didn't do it."
"Meghan, on the other hand, looked like a sad and desperate puppy as she tried to catch Kate's eye gaze repeatedly. But Kate was having none of it," the analyst claimed.
Another body language expert, Judi James, agreed with Glass' analysis of Middleton and Markle's behavior, suggesting that the Princess of Wales "appeared to be less keen to perform for the cameras."
"Walking away from Meghan and the car, she went to join the brothers before keeping a wide social space between herself and the others, looking keen to get on with the job rather than perform in any soap opera," James told Page Six.
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, Markle refuted the rumors that she made Middleton cry at a bridesmaid's dress fitting before her May 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
"Everyone in the institution knew it wasn't true," Markle claimed.
"The reverse happened," she told Winfrey, adding that her alleged argument with Middleton "made me cry, and it really hurt my feelings."
Prince William's relationship with his younger brother Prince Harry allegedly has also been strained since the Duke of Sussex and Markle stepped back from their roles as senior working royals and moved to California in 2020.
But in the wake of their grandmother's death Thursday, Prince William invited his estranged brother and sister-in-law to join him on the walkabout, believing it "was an important show of unity at an incredibly difficult time for the family," an unnamed royal source told People.
The Queen's coffin traveled Tuesday from Scotland, where she died, to England. Her funeral is scheduled for Monday at Westminster Abbey in London.
