Meghan Markle More Abused Than Kate Middleton, Netizens Point Out ‘False Equivalency’

Meghan Markle is more abused by internet trolls compared to her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.

Kensington Palace is reportedly concerned with the online bullying targeting the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex. Royal correspondent Emily Nash started the #HelloToKindness campaign to stop the trolls from attacking Middleton and Markle. However, a number of netizens reacted and stressed that between the two royals, Markle receives more vile comments.

“Kate abuse does not equal Meghan’s!!” one user posted on Twitter and added, “FALSE EQUIVALENCY!!”

Many netizens shared the same sentiment. According to them, the harsh comments aimed at Middleton don’t compare to Markle’s. In fact, some aren't convinced that Middleton has been abused by trolls and the media at all.

According to Rebecca, Middleton has never been abused by the media. She urged Nash to relax because the trolls only attack Markle and insisted that “perfect girl” Middleton is safe from the “racist” British media.

Another user agreed with this and wrote that the Duchess of Sussex is actually the only royal being bashed online. The netizen stressed that the Duchess of Cambridge should not be mentioned because she is not getting the same harsh treatment.

“The only woman being abused by all including some of you RR is DoS so please do not insult us by including DoC because she is not getting the abuse that DoS gets everyday,” Busiswa G wrote. She added that Prince Harry only chose the person he wanted to be with, so that should be it. People should leave Markle alone.

The same user also cited how the media accused Markle of murder for simply eating avocados. Previous reports claimed that the Duchess of Sussex’s favorite snack, an avocado toast, was blamed for fuelling human right abuses, drought and murder.

Meanwhile, another user hoped that Markle’s fans would stop attacking Middleton. But Leonielette Woody commented on the said post and again highlighted how Markle receives more attacks compared to Middleton.

“There's more attacking on Meghan that kate, Meghan has being abuse left right and center,” Woody commented.

However, Markle’s fans should note that the British tabloids aren’t the only ones criticizing Markle because even Americans want her marriage to fail. According to AJ Benza, a former showbiz reporter, Americans don’t care about the duchess and they would even be pleased if she and Prince Harry were to divorce. Benza said that Americans love to build up a person and will point and laugh when that person teeters off that ledge after achieving her desired golden perch of fame.
