Meghan Markle Not In Toronto Despite Claims, Says Royal Correspondent
Meghan Markle has not traveled to Toronto recently, contrary to multiple reports.
Rebecca English, a royal correspondent for the Daily Mail, countered the reports. On her Twitter account, she wrote, “Meghan isn’t in Canada or LA and won’t be going there anytime soon.” English said that this is because Markle will be watching “Hamilton” in London on Aug. 29 with Prince Harry.
Carolyn Durand, a royal reporter and the producer for ABC, seconded English’s statement. “Reports that HRH The #DuchessOfSussex #MeghanMarkle is in Canada are inaccurate. She is not currently in Toronto,” she tweeted.
Earlier this week, Royal Central reported that Markle flew to Toronto via Air Canada. An unnamed source allegedly told the publication that Prince Harry asked the staff of the airline to make sure that no one will take his wife’s photographs while on the plane.
But the news about Markle and Prince Harry watching “Hamilton” for a cause are 100 percent accurate because it came from the Kensington Palace.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will attend a gala performance of @HamiltonWestEnd in support of @Sentebale at the Victoria Palace Theater on Wednesday 29th August. The evening will raise awareness and funds for Sentebale’s work with children and young people affected by HIV,” the palace wrote.
Next month, Prince Harry and Markle will also attend the Well Child Awards on Sept. 4, as well as the 100 Days to Peace gala on Sept. 6, according to Town & Country.
In related news, Prince Harry and Markle also made headlines this week after it was reported that they won’t have legal custody of their future kids. Prince William and Kate Middleton also don’t have legal custody of Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis because Queen Elizabeth II serves as their guardian.
“The sovereign has legal custody of the minor grandchildren. This goes back to King George I [who ruled in the early 1700s], and the law’s never been changed. He did it because he had a very poor relationship with his son, the future King George II, so they had this law passed that meant the King was the guardian of his grandchildren,” Marlene Koenig, a royal expert, explained.
