Meghan Markle and Prince Harry know all too well the pros and cons of being a public figure and have found ways to deal. But, when it comes to social media, the duo has no choice but the face this "necessary evil": Instagram.

No, not the social media platform itself but everything that comes along with it. Like the negative comments and hypercritical analysis of every picture, word, and punctuation posted to the couple's account.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex aren't the only ones who have to deal with the downsides of social media. Prince William and Kate Middleton are under the same magnifying glass. The simple solution would obviously be to delete their Instagram accounts, however, in today's society, it's pretty much a necessity to be able to reach the masses. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams explained the conundrum to Insider.

"The trouble is that it is a necessary evil," he said. "The Cambridges and Sussexes have millions of followers on Instagram, and this is a popular way to communicate with them."

Up until earlier this year, the first-time parents to 3-month-old Archie Harrison shared an Instagram with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge (@kensingtonroyal). Now, Meghan and Harry have their own account (@sussexroyal). In July, they also announced they would be starting a charity separate from Prince William and Kate.
