Meghan Markle, Prince Harry ‘Have Little Time For’ These Royal Rules, Customs

They have been known for breaking several royal protocols and customs as they pursue their own path, and the reason why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are so insistent on doing things they way they do could come from some restlessness that they feel when it comes to tradition.

Speaking to Express UK, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams admitted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex don’t really have time for the more traditional parts of their roles because they are genuinely unhappy with those conventional aspects of the job.

“They have shown every indication that they are unhappy with unconventional royal roles, Meghan’s declining a visit to Balmoral to stay with the Queen in favor of seeing Serena Williams playing tennis is but one pointer to what was already clear,” he said.

He also discussed the recent rumors that the couple could consider forgoing another tradition as well by moving to the U.S. and having a home there as well—but that if they were to do it they would have to consider a lot more than just the negative publicity it would attract.

“If they did move abroad for large periods of time they face high-security bills and in time the problem of Archie’s schooling as well as the challenge of balancing activities abroad with those at home,” he said. “Also, it will be asked, why should the British taxpayer who pays for the renovation of their home, fund this?”

However, regardless of what the couple does in the future, there is no question that they will continue surprising those that are their fans—and drawing the ire of their critics.

“They are currently living rather dangerously after the fierceness of the attacks on them over the charge of hypocrisy over the use of private jets, expect their activities to continue to surprise us, at home and abroad,” he added.
