- The Duke of Sussex, reportedly, showed interest in the name 'Lily'
- The former "Suits" actress said Harry also likes the name, Harriet
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting a baby girl this summer. The royal couple hinted at possible names they would give to their second bundle of joy.
The name Philippa has become a popular prediction for Meghan and Prince Harry’s daughter, especially after the death of Prince Philip in April, Gambling site Ladbrokes revealed.
"The support for baby Philippa is showing no signs of slowing down, and we've been forced to trim the odds again that it's the name for Harry and Meghan's daughter," Ladbrokes’ Jessica O’Reilly stated.
If Meghan and Harry choose to name their upcoming daughter after the late Prince Philip, they would be the third royal couple to do so. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall paid tribute to the late prince before his death by giving their newborn sons the middle name Philip.
The name Diana is also a popular name prediction. “Diana is the clear favorite in our market now, ever since Harry and Meghan confirmed that they could be having a baby girl,” Huffpost quoted Coral spokesperson Harry Aitkenhead as saying in March. "We are convinced it will feature somewhere in the name, going 5-1 that it is the new arrival’s first name."
Meghan and Harry heard some name suggestions from a group of students during their visit to Birkenhead in 2019, People reported. One girl named Megan Dudley asked the former “Suits” actress if she would call her baby Amy and Meghan responded: “That’s a really pretty name, I like it. We’ll have to think about it.”
The publication also shared that Prince Harry showed interest in the name “Lily.” The Duke of Sussex even asked a mother how she spelled her daughter’s flower-inspired name.
In 2018, Meghan and Harry also had an engagement with student sustainability leaders. A 12-year-old student named Charlie Wolf took the opportunity to ask the royal couple for a name for the royal baby.
"We've been given a long list of names from everyone, we're going to sit down and have a look at them,” Meghan said at the time. The duchess even shared that Harry likes the name, Harriet.
Meghan and Harry welcomed their first child, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, on May 6, 2019. Last month, the royal baby celebrated his second birthday in California far from the traditions of his royal relatives. At the time, the Sussex couple released a statement to mark Archie's birthday, urging donations for their latest cause -- vaccine equity around the world.
"We remain incredibly grateful," the statement read. "We cannot think of a more resonant way to honor our son’s birthday. … Even a small contribution can have a ripple effect."
