Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Issue Final Blow To Royal Family Before Starting New Life

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are officially on their own.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down from their roles as senior members of the royal family and have finally completed the process that will allow them to venture into uncharted territory and forge their own paths, but not before leaving one final announcement -- which to some could be considered a snub.

As reported by Express, the couple's "out of office" reply reads, "Many thanks for your email. The office for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex has now closed."

Not only are Meghan and Harry out of the office, but their staff is also out of a job.

"Given their decision to step back, an office at Buckingham Palace is no longer needed," a palace aide told ITV.

"While the details are still being finalized and efforts are being made to redeploy people within the royal household, unfortunately, there will be some redundancies."

Before the automated email response, the parents of 10-month-old son Archie Harrison said their farewell in an Instagram post shared to their SussexRoyal account on March 24.

"As we can all feel, the world at this moment seems extraordinarily fragile. Yet we are confident that every human being has the potential and opportunity to make a difference—as seen now across the globe, in our families, our communities and those on the front line—together we can lift each other up to realise the fullness of that promise," the caption read.

"What’s most important right now is the health and wellbeing of everyone across the globe and finding solutions for the many issues that have presented themselves as a result of this pandemic," they continued. "As we all find the part we are to play in this global shift and changing of habits, we are focusing this new chapter to understand how we can best contribute."

"While you may not see us here, the work continues," the caption went on. "Thank you to this community - for the support, the inspiration and the shared commitment to the good in the world. We look forward to reconnecting with you soon. You’ve been great!"
