Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Will Move To US Only After This Happens
While Canada seems to be the new home for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, it's only a temporary situation. The couple reportedly wants to settle down in Los Angeles -- but only after President Trump leaves office.
"It’s by no means an immediate thing but there is a long-term plan to end up back in the US with a second home in Canada, where they will also spent [sic] a great deal of time," a source told The Daily Mail.
"The couple used the words North America in their statement about where they planned to live deliberately," the insider added. "It doesn’t pin them down to any one place."
The news comes just days after the couple announced they would be taking "a step back as 'senior members' of the Royal Family." In a lengthy Instagram post, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex explained that they will split their time between the United Kingdom and North America while "continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages."
Whatever Meghan and Harry end up doing, they have the full support of the Queen and the rest of the family. Buckingham Palace released a statement on Monday, giving an update on the situation, dubbed by spectators as "Megxit."
"Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family. My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family," the statement read. "Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family."
It continued, "Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives. It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK. These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days."
