Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will not embarrass the Queen in their upcoming interview with Oprah that will air next month.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will have a sit-down interview with Oprah and their appearance has been a cause for concern within the royal family. Royal correspondent Richard Palmer claimed in a series of tweets that the couple won't embarrass Queen Elizabeth, but the duke, in particular, is not happy about the monarch's plan to strip them of their patronages.

"The Sussexes are suggesting they won’t embarrass the Queen but Oprah won’t want her big interview to be a letdown. Interesting times at the palace. Harry is not happy about the Queen’s plans to strip him and Meghan of all patronages she has handed to them," Palmer tweeted.

"The National Theatre told the Daily Express yesterday that it still wants Meghan to remain as its patron. But the Queen’s view seems clear: you can’t represent her as patron of big national organizations and be out of the Firm. It’s a different matter with their own charities," he added.

Palmer also mentioned Prince Harry's military patronages being put on hold and up for discussion after the first year of Megxit. However, he pointed out that the palace did mention "private patronages" after the Sandringham summit in January 2020.

The Sussexes have continued to maintain their private patronages with the Queen's blessings after their exit and made it clear that they will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty.

Meanwhile, former Palace spokesman Dickie Arbiter understood that the Sussexes would go into the interview well-prepared and well-rehearsed. However, he warned them to be careful when speaking about the media.

"Associated Newspapers will I imagine be watching the interview very carefully. They want their day in court so I can’t believe Meghan will talk in depth about the court case and she should be careful when talking about the media because from what I have seen, she hasn’t been harassed by the British media," he said.

Prince Harry and Markle’s interview with Oprah will air on March 7 at 8 p.m. EST/PST on CBS.
