Meghan Markle previously announced that she will be celebrating Christmas with her mom, Doria Ragland, in the United States. But there are claims that her plans changed.

The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly decided to stay in London for the holidays. And in order for her to still spend Christmas with her mom, she will be flying Ragland in.

A source told Daily Mail that Ragland will arrive in London around Thanksgiving at the end of this month. However, since Thanksgiving is not an official British holiday, the Sussexes won’t be celebrating it.

Markle and Ragland are reportedly planning on volunteering at a homeless shelter in London in lieu of Thanksgiving. The source said that Prince Harry is on board with the idea especially since it means that he would get to spend Christmas with his family.

The Duke of Sussex has only missed celebrating Christmas with the royal family once in his life. In 2012, he was on active duty in Afghanistan and was unable to go home in time for the holidays.

In the statement that Prince Harry and Markle released about their Christmas plans, they said that Queen Elizabeth approved their decision. But if the royal couple will be celebrating the holidays in London, it is highly likely that the Queen will be much happier.

While speaking with Express, royal expert Ingrid Seward said that the Queen may have approved Prince Harry and Markle’s decision but this doesn’t mean that she’s not hurt by the snub.

“I think it’s sad they don’t want to be part of the family gathering, particularly now that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are in their dotage. The Queen might be a little hurt but she’s far too gracious to ever let it show or be known,” Seward said.

As of late, the change in Prince Harry and Markle’s Christmas plans haven’t been confirmed by the palace.
