Meghan Markle Reportedly Skipping Sandringham Christmas For Fear Archie Will Be ‘Taken Away’

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly have another reason why they decided to spend Christmas outside London.

During his recent interview with ABC News, royal commentator Omid Scobie said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s son, Archie, is another reason why they decided not to celebrate the holidays in Sandringham with Queen Elizabeth and the royal family.

Since young children are separated from their parents and the other senior royals at formal gatherings, Prince Harry and Markle would be forced to spend less time with their son during his first Christmas. Archie was born on May 6.

“You have to remember Sandringham is quite a formal affair. On Christmas day when the family gets together for Christmas lunch, children are separated from the parents,” Scobie said.

Young members of the royal family have their own celebration inside the royal nurses so Prince Harry and Markle couldn’t bond with Archie while they are hanging out with the Queen, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker Bowles, and more.

Last week, Buckingham Palace revealed that the Sussexes will be celebrating Christmas in Canada with Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland. Scobie said that Toronto will be a more laidback venue for the royals. Prince Harry and Markle could spend time with their son, Ragland, and even their friends while they’re there.

Earlier this month, royal author Katie Nicholl told Vanity Fair that Prince Harry and Markle have opted to not celebrate Christmas in Sandringham this year because they want to have a more low-key celebration following a tumultuous year.

“Now on a sabbatical from royal duties until January, Meghan, Harry, and Archie spent their first Thanksgiving as a family in the States with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, and are now enjoying some downtime. Given their whirlwind year it’s no wonder they are trading a busy royal Christmas for a more low-key family affair,” she said.

Prince Harry and Markle will return to their royal duties in the first week of January.
