Meghan Markle has been heavily criticized since she joined the royal family, but a new segment on “60 Minutes” Australia may have gone too far. Fans of the 38-year-old were unhappy about an exposé dedicated to slamming the Duchess of Sussex.

The Nine Network program featured Katie Hopkins, a conservative British commentator, who has been accused of making racist comments about Meghan. The media personality used the show as an opportunity to deny racist allegations and explain why she dislikes the former “Suits” star.

During the interview, Hopkins berated Meghan, while accusing her of making “cheap movies” and hurting Prince Harry’s reputation. “Why do you hate Meghan so much? What has she ever done to you?” Karl Stefanovic asked the commentator.

“Oh, everything. ‘It’s my royal family. This is my country. Prince Harry is my Prince Harry.’ I’m not jealous,” she replied.

Although she has been accused of criticizing Meghan because she is African American, Hopkins scoffed at the allegations.

“I think that’s where people go with this. If I criticized Meghan, as we can hear I am, people say, ‘Well, you’re racist’. And, honestly, it’s not even a second thought to me,” she explained.

“It only comes up in the minds of those who are truly racist, and that’s never people like me. I’m just observing that the dress is better on Kate [Middleton]. So, this racist thing is really old and tired, but I think it’s just people’s way of sort of saying, ‘You must not criticize Meghan,’” she added.

Hopkins went on to slam Meghan and accused the former actress of being unknown before she met Prince Harry.

“And what is she really? She’s a no one. She’s a divorcee. When did we want a divorcee in the Royal family? She wears bad clothes. When did we ask for that? We’ve just got so much better of our own,” she told Stefanovic.

Fans and celebrities have since taken to Twitter to share their frustrations about the interview. The network airing the program has not addressed the controversial segment.
