Meghan Markle Unlikely To Receive Any Orders From Queen Elizabeth II
Meghan Markle has slim chances of receiving any orders from Queen Elizabeth II unlike her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.
On Monday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary. On the same day, the Queen gave Middleton the highest honor by appointing her as the Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO). The award is personally made by Queen Elizabeth II for services to the Sovereign.
Royal expert Marlene Koenig shared her thoughts about Markle receiving the same honor. For her, unlike Middleton, Markle may not receive the same recognition from Queen Elizabeth II due to her citizenship.
“Meghan will probably not receive any orders until she becomes a UK citizen. Foreigners, including former US presidents, receive honorary knighthoods. She probably won’t receive her first order until after Charles is King,” Koenig wrote on Twitter.
In another tweet, Koenig explained that GCVO is given at the discretion of the sovereign. This honor has been given to diplomats, private secretaries and other senior staff and governor generals.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to welcome their baby anytime now. There have been no updates about Markle and baby Sussex in the past days. However, Buckingham Palace seemed to give a hint about the baby’s gender and name.
Royal fans noticed new pages on Buckingham Palace’s official website. There were three pages reserved for “Prince Arthur,” “Prince James” and “Prince Alexander.” When one visits the pages www.royal.uk/prince-arthur, www.royal.uk/prince-james and www.royal.uk/prince-alexander, the sites will redirect to the main page.
Meanwhile, when the visitors tried to access the pages for the other rumored names for baby Sussex, the website says, “Page not found.” Thus, royal fans believe that the reserved pages are the biggest hint that Prince Harry and Markle are having a boy and he might be named Arthur, James or Alexander.
Also, Prince Harry and Markle’s baby might end the rumors claiming that James Hewitt is the duke’s real father. If the couple is having a boy and he inherits the “male pattern baldness” (MBP) gene present in the royal family, then it would conclusively prove that Prince Charles is Prince Harry’s biological father.
