Meghan Markle Warned About Vogue Editorial Gig: ‘Quite Dangerous, Be Careful’
Meghan Markle has been warned about her Vogue editorial gig.
According to ET Canada, the Duchess of Sussex is heading back to her editorial roots. Prior to marrying Prince Harry and joining the royal family, Markle maintains a lifestyle blog “The Tig.” However, she shut it down months before her royal wedding to Prince Harry.
A source told the outlet that Markle will welcome Vogue into the Frogmore Cottage in the coming weeks to pose for photographs. In addition, she will guest edit the magazine and write an opinion piece.
An insider told Us Weekly that the publication is “bringing a selection of female changemakers on board to write their own personal essays.” E! chief news correspondent Melanie Bromley issued Markle a warning ahead of the event.
According to her, Markle’s editorial gig is a big deal. The public has already seen Princess Diana and Kate Middleton gracing the magazine cover but being the editor and having editorial control is a “very, very interesting choices.”
“We talk about the royals not being political a lot, not having a strong viewpoint in either way so they’re not alienating anybody. This could be seen as quite dangerous,” Bromley said.
“She does have to be careful. She has to be careful not to use her position to influence people on things that are going to be alienating.”
Prior to marrying the Duke of Sussex, Markle was very outspoken and was actively promoting female empowerment and gender equality. She partially transposed her passion for these advocacies when she became the patron of Smart Works, a charity dedicated to helping vulnerable women learn new skills and succeed in job interviews.
Markle was also not afraid to share her views about politicians. She was an open critic to U.S. President Donald Trump. However, after becoming an official royal, she has learned to keep her mouth shut when it comes to political matters.
Trump was once asked about Markle’s comments about him and the politician mentioned that he didn’t think she was “nasty.”
During Trump’s visit to the U.K, many noticed that Prince Harry wasn’t in the mood to be at the state banquet. The Duke of Sussex looked grumpy and seemed to be not pleased that he was there. Meanwhile, Markle snubbed the event by not showing up and staying at home with her son Archie, which Piers Morgan finds “unacceptable” for a senior member of the royal family.
