Meghan Markle was called "Harry's showgirl" by a senior royal when the actress just started dating now-husband Prince Harry, a new tell-all book has revealed.

Royal commentators Carolyn Durand and Omid Scobie wrote in their tell-all book, "Finding Freedom," how the former "Suits" star was shunned by the palace staff and even Prince Harry's brother, Prince William, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Duke of Cambridge is said to have told his younger sibling to "take as much time as you need to get to know this girl."

According to an excerpt from the book, which appeared in the Sunday Times, Prince Harry felt the "snobbishness that was anathema to his approach to the world," particularly in the last two words. The authors noted that the Duke of Sussex's decade-long military stint had made him less inclined to make hasty judgments on people based on their class or accent.

"Harry was pissed off. Pissed off that his brother would ask such a thing," an insider told the authors.

The tell-all book also touched on the kind of treatment Markle received from the other members of the royal family and courtiers.

"There's just something about her I don't trust," one senior courtier allegedly told a colleague, while another called her "Harry's showgirl."

The book excerpt revealed that Prince Harry and Prince William hardly talked after the Duke of Cambridge's statements about Markle. Prince Harry was also rarely invited to see Prince William's kids, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, the authors wrote.

In addition, the royal reporters' tell-all suggested that Kate Middleton didn't try to help mend the rift and made little effort to help newcomer Markle.

The authors said that while Middleton did send flowers to Markle for her birthday, the latter would have preferred that the mom-of-three show her support when she was being torn apart by the media.

Although Markle was disappointed that she and the Duchess of Cambridge "hadn’t bonded over the position they shared, but she wasn’t losing sleep over it," the book adds.

The tension between the two Duchesses reportedly went on until the grand royal wedding of Prince Harry and Markle. The former actress was rumored to have left Middleton in tears after an issue during Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting.

At the time, Prince William’s wife had just given birth to Prince Louis and "was feeling quite emotional."
