Meghan Markle Wears Pink For Royal Engagements For This Reason, Expert Says
Meghan Markle has been wearing pink during her royal engagements and there's a reason for this.
The Duchess of Sussex wore a pink Prada when she joined Prince Harry and Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Young Leaders Awards on Tuesday. In addition, she wore the same shade when she made her balcony debut at the Trooping the Colours earlier this month.
According to a Karen Haller, an applied color psychology practitioner, wearing pink has a "calming effect on the wearer." Thus, this could be the reason the new royal opt to make wearing pink her new signature.
"The number of high profile engagements Meghan has had since officially becoming a member of the royal family would no doubt be quite nerve-wracking," Haller continued. "As the softer end of the pink spectrum is physically soothing, it's the perfect antidote to calming those nerves and easing the pulse rate."
Haller added that the new royal is communicating through colors. The romantic shade also shows her relationship with her husband, Prince Harry.
"She's sub-consciously communicating through colour that she's clearly in love," Haller added. "Soft pinks communicate the nurturing, compassionate, caring side of love. I'm not at all surprised she is feeling this way given the body language between her and Prince Harry - and she is reflecting this in picking the softer pinks."
Markle also wore the same shade in her debut as an official royal at Prince Charles' garden party. On the said event, the Duchess of Sussex stepped out in a rose-pink Flavia pencil dress with tailored bodice by Goat. Many noticed her sleek updo and some believed that her getup was reminiscent of Kate Middleton's ensemble when the Duchess of Cambridge attended her first garden party in 2012.
In related news, according to Sierra Brennan, a journalist for Daily Mail, Markle has embraced Middleton's hairstyle following her royal wedding to Prince Harry. In fact, she already sported Middleton's updos and bouncy blow drys on her official engagements.
Celebrity hairdresser James Johnson said that the new duchess looked great in Middleton's low bun, brushed out waves and a simple wave. However, she advised that Markle leave the curls to the Duchess of Cambridge and find her own signature hairstyle.
