Meghan Markle’s Baby Will Have More ‘Global Impact’ Than Prince George, Charlotte

Meghan Markle’s baby will have a more global impact compared to Kate Middleton’s children.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s children are among the most popular kids worldwide. Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis have boosted the British economy following their births. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s upcoming baby might be more influential.

According to royal commentator Emily Nash, Markle’s baby will not only impact the U.K. but the U.S. too since baby Sussex’s birth is closely followed by Americans. Thus, the newest addition to the royal family will likely have a global economic impact more than Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

“There has been a huge boost to the British economy for all three past royal babies and this will be no different,” Nash explained. “This is going to have more of a global impact I would imagine because the Duchess is American.”

In 2017, Middleton’s eldest son and only daughter had a huge impact on the public’s spending. Princess Charlotte who was only 2 years old at the time had an extensive impact in fashion. Her yellow cardigan became the most search outfit.

On the other hand, the third-in-line to the throne had the power to persuade the people into buying. eBay sold 1,500 items related to Prince George with one purchase every hour at the time.

However, when it comes to royal duties, Prince William and Middleton’s children will be busier than Prince Harry and Markle’s baby. The Duke of Sussex is sixth in line to the throne and is way down the line of succession, so his baby will get to enjoy a more “normal” childhood.

“There will be plenty of royal duties for them to do, and less and less for Harry's child to do,” Dr. Jonathan Spangler of Manchester Metropolitan University said of the works in store for the royal children when they grow up.

Although Prince Harry and Markle’s baby is unlikely to be a full-time royal like Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, there will still be some pressure. Baby Sussex is expected to live up to a certain standard.
