Meghan Markle’s father did not receive any acknowledgment after sending a birthday card to the duchess and expressing interest in meeting baby Archie.

The Duchess of Sussex has a strained relationship with her family except for her mom, Doria Ragland. Markle isn’t on speaking terms with her dad, Thomas Markle Sr., and half-siblings Samantha and Thomas Markle Jr.

Thomas and Markle’s relationship turned sour in the run-up of her royal wedding when it was reported that he agreed to receive cash for staging photos. He also canceled his attendance at Markle’s big day resulting to Prince Charles sending Markle away on her most special day.

In an interview with Daily Mail, Thomas said that he wanted Prince Harry and Markle to send him a picture of Archie, so he could frame it and put it on the wall beside Markle’s. He added that he wanted to know if Archie “got the famous Markle nose.”

He also admitted that he sent Markle a card on her 38th birthday last month, but didn’t receive any acknowledgment.

“I sent her a card via her financial adviser in LA but received no acknowledgement,” Thomas said. “I have no idea if she got it.”

Thomas also shared her favorite photo of Markle which was taken when she was just 2 years old. He also recalled how close they were.

“Firstly, I love my daughter. She’s my baby and this is my favourite ever picture of her,” Thomas said.

“I took that photograph and I always loved it because of the pensive look on her face. That was my Meggie. We were so close. I would come home from work [he was an award-winning Hollywood lighting director] and I would hold her against my chest and we would walk around for hours and hours.”

Thomas added that he knew some people think he doesn’t love his daughter. However, contrary to that, he loves Markle very much and would love nothing more than to put a picture of Archie in a frame beside Makle’s.

In February, Markle’s secret letter to Thomas made headlines. According to handwriting expert Emma Bache and Tracey Trussell, Markle’s handwriting showed that she’s not just a spontaneous or intellectually creative woman, but she’s also a consummate performer and strategist.

Royal expert Robert Jobson encouraged Markle to talk to her father and resolve their issues. He also reminded the duchess how she talked about her love for her father on her blog before she started dating Prince Harry.
