Meghan Markle’s Dad Thomas Shares What He Would’ve Said At Royal Wedding

Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle, recently revealed what he would’ve said at his daughter’s wedding if he had been given the chance to speak at the reception.

Thomas shared that he asked Prince Harry’s permission first to talk at their wedding, but he told him that he should ask his daughter. Unfortunately, Markle told her dad that he cannot give a speech at the royal wedding.

“I was going to recount the funny story about how she broke the news to me about dating Harry. ‘Daddy, I’ve met a man… Daddy, he’s English… Daddy, he’s a prince…’ I thought it was a cute story. Like any father, I wanted to say a few words. I was going to thank the royal family for welcoming my beautiful daughter into their family. But it was a speech that I was never going to be allowed to give. That hurt,” he said (via Express).

Thomas was initially invited to attend Prince Harry and Markle’s nuptials on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. He was also supposed to walk his daughter down the aisle. However, he begged off from the event due to his heart attack. The former lighting director underwent heart surgery just days before the big event.

Royal fans initially thought that Thomas faked his heart attack just so he wouldn’t have to attend his daughter’s wedding. But during his recent interview, he said that he wanted Markle to know that he didn’t lie about his recent health issues.

Thomas, however, admitted to lying to Prince Harry about the staged photos he took just weeks before the wedding. Thomas worked with some photographers to stage photos that made him look as though he was preparing for the couple’s nuptials.

It was, later on, revealed that it was Thomas’ daughter, Samantha Markle, that encouraged him to pose for the paparazzi.
