Meghan Markle’s Dad’s Relationship With A Former Child Star Failed Because Of Duchess

Meghan Markle’s dad, Thomas Markle Sr., previously dated child Gigi Perrau. But the couple’s relationship didn’t last very long because of the Duchess of Sussex.

In the book “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess,” royal biographer Andrew Morton said that Perrau used to be a successful child star, who also earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

After leaving the industry, she worked as a teacher at the Immaculate Heart School in Los Angeles. Markle studied in the school, and she also appeared in some of the plays directed by the former child actress.

Markle’s dad, who has a background in lighting direction, helped his daughter in her school plays. This is how Thomas crossed paths with Perrau. According to Morton, not a lot of people knew who Thomas was and they referred to him as the guy in overalls whenever he was there.

Morton interviewed Perrau in his book, and she said that Thomas wanted to seem like he’s a gruff, but he’s actually very generous. The former actress also admitted to having a crush on the Duchess of Sussex’s dad.

As such, when Thomas asked her out on a date, she immediately said yes. The pair went to a see a stage play at the Doolittle Theater years ago while Markle was still in high school, but their relationship didn’t last that long.

Thomas’ focus was reportedly on his daughter and nothing else. Prior to dating Perrau, the former lighting director was married to Markle’s mom, Doria Ragland. However, their relationship didn’t last very long either.

While Markle was still a toddler, her parents decided to go their separate ways. Five years later, they decided to finalize their divorce. During this time, Markle still lived with her mom but she stayed with her dad on weekends.

But when she went to high school, she lived with Thomas full-time because Ragland was busy with her work.
