Meghan Markle's Fiancé Prince Harry Likely To Wear His Wedding Ring
Meghan Markle's soon-to-be husband, Prince Harry, is expected to wear his wedding ring.
Most of the men from the royal family don't wear their wedding bands including Prince Philip and Prince William. But Markle's fiancé is expected to ditch that practice as wearing a wedding ring is what most men do today.
"That's when men started to be expected to wear wedding rings, and nowadays when you hear men don't want to wear them you think that it's a bit odd," Rachel Church, a curator of metalwork at the Victoria and Albert Museum, told BBC.
In addition, Prince Harry is a feminist. This might be another reason the Duke will likely flaunt his wedding band with Markle.
According to royal expert Kelly Lynch, this detail was revealed by the future royal. When Markle and Prince Harry visited Wales last month, a woman approached the "Horrible Bosses" star and informed the bride-to-be that she admired Markle for defending women's rights and feminism.
"Meghan told the woman that Prince Harry was a feminist, too, which I believe, given his compassion, reliability and kindness," Lynch said. "The couple's connection through social justice and helping others is palpable."
On the other hand, Prince Harry's brother, Prince William, doesn't wear his wedding band while Kate Middleton does. According to Penny Junor, author of "The Duchess: Camilla Parker Bowles and the Love Affair that Rocked the Crown," it was a personal choice. The Duke of Cambridge doesn't like jewelry.
Meanwhile, British and European royalty expert Marlene Koenig said that there is no protocol for this. The royals are free to decide if they will wear their wedding rings or not.
"There is no royal tradition for men wearing or not wearing a wedding ring," Koenig explained.
In related news, Prince Harry and Markle were spotted enjoying a date night in London a couple of days after they visited Scotland together. The Duke and the "Remember Me" actress reportedly watched the "Hamilton" musical on Friday.
There were no reports as to how Prince Harry and Markle celebrated their first Valentine's Day as an engaged couple. A day before the Heart's Day, they were in Edinburgh Castle. On Wednesday, Prince Harry joined Prince Charles' coral reef meeting without his fiancée.
