Meghan Markle stepped out in public after her controversial interview aired, and royal fans were surprised to see her hair not tied in a bun. The Duchess of Sussex curled her dark locks and it also covered her face at times.

While speaking with The Sun, body language expert Judi James said that there is a deeper meaning to Markle’s hairstyle. She said that the royal’s front-falling look served as a barrier gesture while she was at the One Young World Summit.

James also said that Prince Harry’s wife used her hair as curtains, and she hid behind them multiple times throughout the night.

“Instead of the signature practical, more assertive look that is often tucked behind her ears or even pinned back to reveal her entire face, suggesting confidence and openness, this front-falling look formed the role of the kind of facial ‘curtains’ that women can often use as a form of comfort barrier to hide behind at will,” James said.

The body language expert went on to say that Markle’s front-falling look even covered her eyes at times. The Duchess of Sussex didn’t also try to push her hair to the side to show the public her eyes. But Markle raised her left hand to show off her wedding ring to the public, which was a sign of security and strength.

“She appears to be holding her left hand raised higher than usual in what looks like a partial barrier gesture, with her engagement and wedding rings displayed to illustrate what she referred to as her strength and security in her life,” James said.

Markle and Prince Harry recently faced backlash after they seemingly criticized the royal family and its traditions. During their interview for ITV, Markle also said that having a stiff upper lip can be very damaging.

Following their interview, sources revealed that the Queen and Prince Charles were furious but they also hope that the Sussexes are doing well.
