Meghan Markle’s Popularity Sparked ‘Jealousy’ In Royal Family Like Princess Diana’s Fame?
KEY POINTS
- Princess Diana and Meghan Markle share some similarities with the way that they were treated by the royal family
- The royal family is jealous of Meghan Markle's popularity
- The royal family is not used to Meghan Markle's modern ways
Meghan Markle and Princess Diana reportedly have some similarities especially in the way that they were treated by the royal family.
When the Princess of Wales first joined the British clan, she was seen as a threat to the monarchy. Decades later, Markle tied the knot with Prince Harry, and their modern ways were also seen as a cause for concern for the royal family.
While speaking with LBC, Princess Diana’s former protection officer Ken Wharfe said that it was only after Princess Diana’s death that the late royal was credited for all her wonderful contributions to the royal family.
“In a way, I think part of the problem now with Meghan is that she came in the same way and dominated the world’s headlines and the world’s media. No one’s prepared to say ‘well done, Meghan’ or whatever,” Wharfe said.
“It’s this popularity thing, and the royals have a real issue with popularity. In essence, it’s almost a form of jealousy,” he added.
When Markle’s relationship with Prince Harry was made public, the “Suits” alum suddenly became the talk of the town. She was also making headlines but for all the wrong reasons.
According to Wharfe, the media should’ve been more generous in their comments about Markle, which is another major issue. Prince Harry and Markle felt that they were constantly being targeted by the pres.
Meanwhile, Princess Diana also made headlines this week after Wharfe revealed the shocking moment Prince Harry scowled at Prince William.
While in the car traveling down to Gloucester, the royal siblings got into an argument in the presence of Wharfe and Princess Diana. Prince Harry told Prince William that he will be king one day if he doesn’t want to be one.
Princess Diana was surprised by her son’s comment especially since Prince Harry was just four years old at that time. Unfortunately for the Duke of Sussex, Prince William will still be king in the near future.
