Is Meghan Markle’s Wedding To Prince Harry Delaying Princess Eugenie’s Big Day?
The Buckingham Palace announced Monday that Princess Eugenie got engaged earlier this month to her longtime boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank, and just like Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, they don’t want to wait long to get married.
The duo hoped to get everything in place and have their wedding in September, according to Daily Mail, but it’s looking like that won’t work due to other royals’ obligations that month.
“Eugenie and Jack are keen to tie the knot quite quickly, and there certainly wouldn’t be any issue as regards the booking of the chapel given who her grandmother is,” a source told the outlet. “But the issue is that some members of the Royal Family already have commitments in the diary.”
Thanks to the numerous invites the royal family receives, its members are forced to plan out their calendars more than six months in advance, with many already having their Septembers scheduled. One of the main conflicts that Princess Eugenie and Brooksbank must contend with is the foreign tour Markle and Prince Harry could potentially embark on following their wedding in May.
“There is talk of a number of foreign tours for Prince Harry and Miss Markle this year, and September is a date that has been mooted,” the source said. “There is nothing concrete yet, but it looks as if Eugenie and Jack will go for October instead.”
Not wanting to compete with possible Markle and Prince Harry engagements, the princess, who is eighth in line to the throne, and her fiancé will be delaying their wedding to the month after they originally wanted. Apparently, this small hiccup in wedding planning isn’t getting the newly-engaged couple down, with the source saying “they are fine with it” and that they’re not letting anything “overshadow how deliriously happy they are.”
The engagement was a longtime coming as the couple have been dating for seven years after meeting while on a Swiss skiing trip. Though they’d known each other a while, Brooksbank kept his proposal very traditional and asked “the Duke’s permission for his daughter’s hand in marriage beforehand,” a close family friend told Daily Mail.
Now, the engaged couple get to spend an extra month in this stage and get an extra month to make sure their wedding is royally perfect.
