Meghan Markle's Wikipedia Page Edited Weeks Before Prince Harry Romance Went Public

Meghan Markle's page on Wikipedia was reportedly altered before her royal romance with Prince Harry went public.

Markle and Prince Harry's dating status was confirmed in 2016. According to Page Six, drastic changes were made on Markle's Wikipedia page before she and Prince Harry announced their relationship.

There was a flurry of activity on Oct. 9, 2016 which was only weeks before their romance was publicized. Among the noticeable changes were the promotion of Markle as an "activist" and "humanitarian." Her modeling gigs were dropped to highlight her charity effort.

According to the outlet, the first change was scrubbing the mention of Markle as the "model who held case #24 on the U.S. version fo the television game show 'Deal or No Deal.'"

After 10 minutes, another change was made on the page, replacing the description "fashion model, spokesmodel" to "Activist, Humanitarian."

"Markle is actively involved in the socio-political arena. She has also worked with The United Nations Women, where, as an Advocate, she presented at UN Headquarters for the HeforShe Gender Equality Campaign in September 2014," the new entry read.

"Meghan has also been a panelist on the esteemed list of speakers for One Young World (Dublin, 2014), and has traveled to Afghanistan with the Joint Chief of Staff on a USO tour December 2014."

All the changes were made from an anonymous IP linked to a PR firm from Los Angeles but with no known connection to Markle, The Telegraph reported. The outlet speculated that the changes were made by the duchess' friends who were aware at the time that she was about to announce her royal romance in public.

In related news, Prince Harry and Markle have already moved to the U.S. after they carried out their final royal engagement. However, they still struggle with privacy issues because they are not well protected in the U.S.

In the U.K., the palace and the press have an agreement to not use paparazzi pictures when the royals are enjoying private time. However, no such agreement exists between the Sussexes and the media in U.S.

Just recently, the Sussexes filed an invasion of privacy lawsuit after photos of them with their son in their backyard leaked. However, the defendants were not named because the couple couldn't identify who took the photos. They believe that the unauthorized snaps were taken using drones and telephoto lenses.
