Meghan McCain Hits Out At Critics Who 'Are So Triggered' By Her Body
Meghan McCain is here to make it clear, once again, that she is not okay with people passing unwarranted comments about her body.
The former View co-host took to Twitter on Wednesday to speak out against everyone who was "so bothered" about her physical appearance, E! Online reported.
"It continues to be bizarre to me so many pundits and comedians with big platforms are so triggered by my body and spend so much time and energy talking about it," she wrote in the post. The 37-year-old TV personality did not mention a single person or incident, but rather said the problem is with "multiple people."
"Teenage girls are literally killing themselves over our toxic culture towards women bodies," she added. “I thank God I never ended up with an eating disorder or worse given the amount of bulls**t I’ve experienced publicly since I was 20,” she continued in since-deleted tweets, according to People.
“I’m one of the lucky ones. But is there any thought of how it can impact impressionable young women and fans?” the deleted tweets reportedly read. “There is a mental health crisis savaging teenage girls right now — and when you call me obese, or do ‘comedic’ sketches, think of what message it sends to them, not me.”
McCain, who has a 15-month-old daughter Liberty Sage, then spoke about how deeply it can impact people when their weight becomes a topic of discussion. “I have a young daughter now and the poison so many of you put out about how women should look is A CRISIS killing American women, literally,” she shared.
This is not the first time McCain has clapped back at body shamers. Two years earlier, McCain gave it back to a Twitter user who told her to go on a diet, after she shared a photo dressed in hot pink for Breast Cancer Awareness month.
"It's harassment like this that can lead women to eating disorders," she responded. "I am one of the lucky ones who never suffered from it. I never dieted to get a man or a job and somehow landed my dream both — hope young girls see me and know they don't have to diet either."
