Former Fox News host Megyn Kelly on Monday said national media coverage of the Capitol riots of Jan. 6 made the events look “so much worse than it actually was."

“There’s no question the media represented this as so much worse than it actually was," Kelly said on her podcast. She touched on how "some losers" made the whole group look bad.

The riots resulted in five deaths, more than 500 arrests, an interruption of the counting of the ballots, and lawmakers having to enter a shelter for safety. Some of the rioters called for Vice President Mike Pence to be hung.

Kelly talked with comedian Chrissie Mayr, who attended the Donald Trump rally.

The former NBC talk show host said that most of the crowd is being called out by the bad actions of a few and said it was not an insurrection.

"That does not mean that's what the entire crowd was there for," Kelly said. "So, they got tarred by the actions of some losers who went a different way. And then the media did what it does, which is any bad behavior gets attributed to the entire group of Trump supporters."

She added that Trump supporters have effectively been placed on a "banned list."

Mayr talked about being present near the Capitol on Jan. 6. Mayr seemed to overlook that Kelly was not present at the rally when she made comments disparaging observers who were not at the Capitol.

“I was there and anybody who was there on the 6th is, like, blown away by how, like, inaccurate the media coverage is,” said Mayr. “At this point, it’s like I don’t want to listen to anybody’s thoughts on the 6th unless they were like there, like physically there, because it was so, like, not a big deal.”

Many on Twitter attacked Kelly for the comments.
