Melania Trump Faces Backlash Over Remarks On Children's Mental Health

Melania Trump recently gave a compassionate speech about the mental health of the children and how it should be a matter of concern for everyone. However, some Twitter users still criticized her for it.

On July 8, the First Lady of the United States delivered a speech about how children's mental health should be a “priority” just like physical health. She also said that she is looking forward to working with various organizations to make sure that children and their families could live a healthy life.

The official Twitter account of The White House shared a video of the FLOTUS’ speech that was taken during the “National Dialogue on Safely Reopening Schools” event.

However, Melania’s speech was not appreciated by some netizens. Twitter users were not impressed by her gesture and criticized her for even thinking of reopening schools amid the pandemic.

“Is this some kind of joke? A place that only rich can afford health care and locks up more people than anyone else in the world,” one commented.

“Just no. Any push to reopen schools is premature and reckless. Let’s try getting the virus under control first before endangering children and families. #WearAMask,” another user commented.

“But, what about all the immigrant children that were put in cages by your 'husband'? Are you going to treat their psychological damage that was caused by your 'husband'? The falseness shows right through you,” @Kesh206 wrote.

“Um you had about 4 years. What have you done? Absolutely nothing. I don’t care, do you?” @KCommenter opined.

Amid the backlash, many also supported Melania. They appreciated the efforts made by the FLOTUS to work with various organizations for the children.

“The most gracious, elegant and classy first lady I believe we have ever had,” a user wrote.

“Thank you. you are doing a great job we love our first lady,” @Filomen77552987 commented.

“ Thanks, Melania that was a great speech,” another user wrote.

Melania also shared some of snaps taken at the event. In one photo, she is seen posing with her husband Donald Trump, vice-president Mike Pence and his wife Karen Pence.
