Melania Trump has been the first lady for three years, but very little is known about her. A new book attempts to correct that problem by sharing new insights about what she is really like. The unauthorized biography is titled “Free, Melania” and is written by CNN White House reporter Kate Bennett.

In an interview with CNN, Bennett shared some details about what people can expect from her book. Talking about the title, the author revealed that it implies that Melania is “independent,” which is apparently how the first lady is like in person and this is also how she lives.

The words “Free Melania” started trending online recently, but it had a negative meaning attached to it. Bennett pointed out that while some believe the first lady was in need of saving, the opposite is actually true.

Bennett went on to explain that Trump is “very uncompromising about who she is and what she wants to do.” The reason why this is different is because in the past, a first lady was dragged along with the president, and she was expected to do things based on that position rather than focusing on her as an individual.

According to People, the new book revealed that Trump is more in control of her life than what is reported by the media. The biography also describes the first lady as an “unlikely feminist.”

Bennett wrote the book based on her experience reporting on the first lady and by speaking to anonymous sources. According to The Washington Post, some parts of the book are pure speculation that are based on analyzing Trump’s body language and the clothes she wore on different occasions.

Reacting to the book about the first lady, her spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham said that the biography contains many “false details and opinions.” Grisham explained that Bennett based some of her opinions on comments by anonymous people who don’t know Trump.
