KEY POINTS
- Melania Trump says she is more than a pretty face
- Melania Trump accused of plagiarizing Michelle Obama's speech
- Melania Trump bashed after fans claimed she is smarter than Michelle Obama
Melania Trump said that she is more than a pretty face.
MSNBC host Chris Matthews made a remark on her appearance during the 2016 campaign saying that he was like watching a runway show. In a candid interview with DeJour magazine, the FLOTUS reacted to Matthews’ school-boyish gawk.
“Unbelievable. That’s what I’m saying!” Melania said. “I’m not only a beauty, I’m smart. I have brains. I’m intelligent. I would just say, men will be men.”
Melania added that she has a serious role when it comes to President Donald Trump’s policy decisions. She proudly shared her contributions to her husband’s political role.
“To be married to my husband, to someone successful as he is, he needs somebody who will tell him the truth. Somebody smart, you know. It’s not just like I’m there and I’m just doing things for him,” she added.
Eric Trump’s wife Lara also praised Melania’s intelligence. In Dough Wead’s book “Inside the White House,” Lara said that the FLOTUS is an “incredibly smart woman.” She added that the people don’t give Melania nearly enough credit.
However, if one looks at the past first ladies, there is a different standard when it comes the current one. Lara felt that the media criticism toward Melania was so overdone that it backfired.
Meanwhile, a photo comparing the former FLOTUS Michelle Obama and Melania’s IQ and accomplishments has been shared on Twitter. It appeared that Melania is more intelligent than Michelle and several online users disagreed. Melania was bashed by her critics after her fans claimed that she’s smarter than Michelle because for them the claim was not true.
Several sarcastically mentioned Melania’s plagiarism issue as a result of her intelligence. In 2016, the FLOTUS’ speech at the opening day of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland on July 18, 2016 was too similar to Michelle’s remarks at the Democratic National Convention in Denver on Aug. 25, 2008.
Some defended Melania from the issue. According to the online users on the forum Quora, it was the fault of the first lady’s “lazy and incompetent staff.”
