Melania Trump and President Donald Trump were sighted during a college football playoff national championship game on Monday in New Orleans, Louisiana. Photos and clips of the first couple while watching the game spread like wildfire online. However, social media users were quick to criticize American actor Vince Vaughn, who was seen shaking the hands of the POTUS and FLOTUS.
The “Wedding Crashers” actor trended on Twitter after he was spotted talking and sitting next to Melania and the President recently. While some think there is nothing wrong about Vince paying courtesy to the first couple, some fans took to social media to express their disappointment about the “Old School” actor having a friendly conversation with Melania and Donald.
Writer-editor Timothy Burke even shared a video of the trio talking as fans hum to the tune of Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” track on his official Twitter page. "I'm very sorry to have to share this video with you," he wrote in the caption. "All of it, every part of it,” he went on.
Critics of Melania Trump and President Donald Trump were quick to chime in and lambasted the “Swingers” star for speaking with the couple. “I think it's pretty well known that people in Hollywood do not like vince, total creeper and I think he has substance abuse issues,” one user said. “Never liked Vince Vaughn anyways, now I really can’t stand him,” another netizen wrote in the comment section. “Damn I’m disappointed he was one of my favorite actors,” a third netizen responded to Timothy’s tweet.
There were also some who praised Vince Vaughn after the recent sighting. “Love that two men, no matter their views, can shake hands and have a conversation in this country. Many can learn from this. #alwayschoosekindness,” Azur Simpson stated. “This is a beautiful site, huge Vince guy,” a fifth Twitter user added. “Thanks for sharing the support even celebrities have for our President,” another netizen shared. Another user even noticed the President got his hand on Melania while speaking with the "Couples Retreat" actor.
Meanwhile, just like Vince, Ellen DeGeneres also faced backlash after she was seen hanging out with former President George W. Bush at a Dallas Cowboys football game in Oct. 2019. Fans of the famous host questioned why she was watching with Bush. "So Portia and I were invited by Charlotte Jones," Ellen said in a clip she posted on her official Twitter account. "She's the daughter of Jerry Jones who owns the Dallas Cowboys. And we went because we wanted to keep up with the Joneses," she went on.
Melania Trump, President Donald Trump and Vince Vaughn have yet to respond to the netizens’ reactions.
