KEY POINTS

- Donald Trump praised his wife Melania Trump in his CPAC 2020 speech
Melania Trump’s photo circulating on social media with her sister and their alleged mother is partly “false.”
The first lady has been photographed with two women at a party. The snap has made rounds on social media including Facebook because many found the third woman, Melania’s alleged mom, looking younger than her actual age.
“Melania Trump's mother is almost 75 years old. I think it would be an understatement to say she is aging well,” the caption read.
Reuters made a fact check about the photo and concluded that it was “partly false.” While it portrays Melania and her sister, Ines Knauss, the woman in white suit is apparently not their mom, Amalija Knavs.
The photo was reportedly taken for Getty Images by Lucien Capeheart in 2005 when they were in Mar-a-Lago. Joining Melania and Iness in the frame is American philanthropist Audrey Gruss. They were at a Valentino Fashion Luncheon Benefit for the Boy’s Club of New York.
Gruss is the Founder and Chairman of the Hope for Depression Research Foundation, an organization that is dedicated to the funding of scientific research on depression and emotional disorders. She has been spotted with the first lady a few times.
Melania’s mother has been photographed in public a few times and apparently, she’s not the woman in the photo with Melania and Iness. In 2006, Amalija was photographed with Melania’s father Viktor when they arrived at the Jacob K. Javits Federal building in New York with their immigration attorney where immigration officials helped them process their citizen applications.
Meanwhile, the citizenship of Melania’s father has been questioned by some because Viktor allegedly had a criminal record. According to David Leopold, an immigration lawyer, if Viktor was convicted of fraud it could disqualify him from getting a green card and it could be grounds for revoking his citizenship. But his lawyer said that he was never convicted, investigated or charged.
“Mr. Knavs’s application for U.S. citizenship was properly executed and adjudicated, consistent with the Immigration and Nationality Act. His naturalization process was no different than anyone else seeking citizenship in this country,” immigration lawyer Michael Wildes said.
In related news, President Donald Trump praised his wife in his speech during the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) 2020 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Maryland. The POTUS complimented his wife saying that the first lady has been “doing a great job.” He also acknowledged the presence of Melania’s dad at the event
