Is Melissa McCarthy Joining The 'Gilmore Girls' Netflix Reboot? Former Co-Star Yanic Truesdale Shuts Down Rumors On Instagram
Could it be that Melissa McCarthy is appearing in the "Gilmore Girls" reboot after all? A recent photo of the star with another former fan favorite from the since-defunct series has left fans wondering.
Yanic Truesdale, who played Michel on "Gilmore Girls" until 2007, posted a picture of him and McCarthy, 45, out to eat on Sunday. Knowing that the Instagram photo would garner some attention, he decided to head off rumors before they could begin. In the snapshot's caption, Truesdale, 45, warned followers not to think too much of their mini-reunion.
While McCarthy may not be returning to "Gilmore Girls," several other original stars have signed on for Netflix's series revival. On Feb. 24, Milo Ventimiglia, who played Stars Hollow bad-boy Jess Mariano, announced that he would be back on the show and back to his old ways. Ventimiglia told Us Weekly Jess would be his usual "salty and ornery" character, adding that in the reboot he was "doing his own thing." Also returning to "Gilmore Girls" are Alexis Bledel, Lauren Graham and Kelly Bishop, who played Rory, Loreli and Emily Gilmore respectively. As for the men on the cast, Scott Patterson, who played Luke, and Jared Padalecki, who played Dean forester, will also be featured.
As was reported by Entertainment Weekly, on Feb. 2 McCarthy was asked by a fan on Twitter whether or not "Gilmore Girls" lovers could expect to see her in the Netflix show. The "Spy" star apologized, revealing that she had not been invited to reprise her role and wished her former co-stars the best. McCarthy's response came amid rumors she'd simply turned down the opportunity due to conflicts with her schedule.
