Everyone knows a picky eater or two, and the same can definitely be said for the Royal Family, as one of their own has been unveiled to have some particular eating habits.

In the documentary “Secrets of the Royal Kitchen,” former royal chefs Darren McGrady and Graham Newbould revealed the different ways Prince Charles has proven to be fussier with his food and that he has even gone so far as bringing his own fruit when he travels—even to his mother, Queen Elizabeth’s, residences.

“Whenever the Prince of Wales came to stay with the Queen, he would always arrive with a hamper of his own produce,” McGrady said. “In the kitchen, we’d have jars of bottled plums from the Highgrove garden.”

There were also specific instructions McGrady was meant to follow when it came to giving the Prince his plums, and after not doing it correctly one time, he learned to make sure and always follow along with the odd procedure.

“The instruction was to put two plums ad a little juice into the bowl and send it into him for breakfast,” McGrady recalled. “I’d send in two plums and he would take one so it would come back out after breakfast and I’d put the other plum back into the jar and save it.”

“One morning I thought, ‘ok, he only eats one for breakfast,’ so I only put one plum into the bowl and sent it out into the dining room,” he continued. "The attending [waiter] came through and said, ‘can his Royal Highness have two please?’ So I had to keep sending two in every morning.”

Newbould also detailed the Prince’s odd breakfast habits, indicating that is Charles went somewhere, the food he chose went with him.

“Whenever the Prince goes in the world, the breakfast box goes with him,” he said. “He has six different types of honey, some special mueslis, his dried fruit and anything that's a bit special that he is a bit fussy about.”
