Meredith Marks Has Found Her 'Zen' After 'A Trying Year'
Meredith Marks' mental health is back on track after a particularly tough year. She hit her breaking point after experiencing a lot of grief at one time, including the death of her beloved father, a discord within her famous friend group, and a family member’s battle with addiction.
To deal with her grief and come back stronger, Marks simply left Salt Lake City for Provence, France.
“As you know, I like to disengage. So at the end of last winter, I left Utah. I didn’t come back here for about five or six months. I really needed time and space to process everything that had gone on — both within my family and my circle of friends and how they handled what went on with my family,” she recalled to Page Six.
Marks, 50, shared that she “found (her) zen” among France's scenic lavender fields. “It was a very spiritual journey for me. I left. I just needed time to decompress and heal myself,” she says of her time in Europe.
“And, of course, therapy never hurts. I just really needed to go and take a lot of time for myself,” she added.
Now, Marks feels like she is in a place where she can advocate for those struggling internally. She shared how her nephew Alex Ruttenberg’s experience with substance abuse was actually a result of his own mental health struggles.
“My nephew went through a really difficult time that culminated last year, but it started long before. He had suffered from addiction and most addiction issues tend to be tied to mental health,” she said.
“He had gone to a variety of different facilities to seek help. Ultimately, he attempted to take his own life but we were able to get him the right help for him. What works for one person doesn’t always work for the next,” she added.
Marks, a jewelry designer by profession, has been a part of "Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" ever since it first aired in 2020, per IMDb.
