KEY POINTS
- Apple introduces a slew of features in iOS 14
- These include the new pin conversations feature
- This new feature is easy to use and helps iPhone users manage their messages
Apple included a slew of new features and enhancements in iOS 14. One of these gives users the ability to pin conversations in Messages, making it easier to locate favorite exchanges.
The new pin conversations feature lets users pin and unpin certain message threads as they please, which means iPhone users have control over the exchanges that will be shown at the top of their messages list.
This new feature will be particularly useful to those who communicate with a lot of people, and as a result, have a hard time locating conversations that get buried underneath newer messages. Pinning conversations puts them high at the top of the list.
Here's how to pin conversations in Messages:
There are three ways to pin conversations. All of them are done inside the Messages app on an iPhone running on iOS 14.
- First, iPhone users can press and hold on the conversation they want to be pinned to the top of the list. A Pin [name] option will then appear on the screen. Tapping on it pins the conversation.
- Second, swipe right across the conversation to be tacked on the top of the message list. A yellow pin icon will appear to the left, and tapping on it pins the conversation.
- Third, while on the message list, users can tap on Edit at the top-left corner of the screen. Users will then need to tap on Edit Pins in the list of options that appear, then tap the yellow pin icon to the right side of the conversation they want pinned.
Pinning conversations makes it easier to find important exchanges. Users have to remember, however, that pinning too many conversations will make it hard to look for certain messages again. It's best to choose what to pin carefully.
Unpinning conversations
It's easy to unpin conversations if ever the need arises. All iPhone users need to do is launch the Messages app, then press and hold on the contact icon to the left of the conversation they want unpinned. Users will then need to tap on Unpin [name] in the pop-up menu that appears.
